Future Projects

Since the London County Council Tramways Trust was formed, it has successfully financed the restoration of two London Trams to form part of the operating collection of the National Tramway Museum at Crich Tramway Village in Derbyshire. These trams are:-

* London County Council B class open top tram No.106, built in 1903 * London Transport E/1 class tram No.1622, built in 1912 and restored to late 1930's 'rehabilitated' condition

The Trust's current project is London United Tramways Type 'W' tram No.159, a double deck open top double bogie tramcar originally built in 1901.

Restoration of No.159 is currently being carried out by the National Tramway Museum’s Conservation Workshop. This is anticipated will take some 2 to 3 years to complete. Full funding of this project will be by the LCCTT with costs estimated to be in the region of £300,000.

Fund raising has already begun for a proposed future restoration of LCC No.1, which is currently on display at Crich in as withdrawn condition.

Other restoration projects in the future may include an LCC Trailer, T86 and a London horse drawn tramcar.

Trams 1, 106 and 1622 can be viewed at Crich as well as the works being carried out on 159. Another London tramcar Metropolitan Electric Tramways 331 can also be seen there.
